Ford trucks have come to be synonymous with reliability and strength. When you look at the 2019 Ford F-450, you can see why. In this preview guide, we'll show you what's new about the F-450 and remind you of what was there to love all along.
What's New for 2019?
It's not an overhaul year and most of the F-series has changed very little. But the 2019 Ford F-450 has perhaps received the most changes in the lineup. The updates include a new package, new configurations on a couple of trims, and a new stereo system.
First of all, Ford just gave a new package to the F-450 Lariat trim level. The Lariat Sport Package to make you look ready for that weekend getaway. This package adds rear wheel-well liners, Tough Bed bedliner, blacked-out headlamp surrounds, as well as high-gloss, black-painted grille bars, running boards, mirror caps and fender vent surrounds, and 20-inch premium black-painted aluminum wheels. The overall feel is athletic and ready for action. And we like how a truck looks in black. One step closer to the Batmobile, right?
Next, the XL and XLT boast a new cab configuration. The Regular Cab, previously available only on upper trim levels comes to the lower trims. Now if you don't need a large cabin, perhaps no crew to haul around the worksite, you can opt for the one-row Regular Cab at just about any trim level.
Finally, a new B&O Play stereo system replaces the Sony stereo in the 2018 model. Bang & Olufsen is the new favorite among auto manufacturers these days and these audio experts have a quality system to back up their growing reputation.
The End All and Be All of Super Duty Trucks
There's really only one reason to buy a truck this size: hauling and towing. Good news if those are your criteria. The Ford F-450 has best-in-class towing capacity, at 35,000 pounds when properly configured, and maximum payload of 6,190 pounds. That's thanks to its 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine, pumping out 450 horsepower and 935 pound-feet of torque. Both of those numbers are class-bests too. Is there anything not to love here?
And if towing is your regular walk-and-talk, you'll love the Ford F-450's extra features. There's adaptive cruise control to keep you moving at a steady pace, adaptive steering helps you steer at any speed from the highway to the driveway, and radar and 7 cameras keep you in your lane and from avoiding accidents.
What Else Is Great About the Ford F-450?
We're glad you asked. We also liked the spacious cabins and their various configurations. We mentioned the one-row Regular Cab that seats three above. There's also a Crew Cab. This four-door truck has a second row and offers the most back seat room a truck this size can afford.
The 2019 Ford F-450 is a great truck, big enough to be a heavyweight Super Duty, but small enough to be made for the everyday.
